It's with profound sadness that we have to inform you that Mick finally lost his battle with cancer and passed away peacefully at 4.30pm today, 4th January 2011 at home in Chelsea, London. He was surrounded by his family and friends and will be deeply missed by all.

  • crap news on both counts. I never knew much about Japan but fell in love with Mick Karn's fretless bass playing on Bill Nelson's Chimera album and other projects, since. Let's hope 2011 doesn't have too much of this sort of thing in store ! :( Life does seem too short
And in the end, your only friend is one who's thinking what you're thinking.

Very sad indeed. Only consolation is that Gerry will no longer have to fight off his demons.
Have been a fan since the City to City album.
Great songwriter and had a very special voice.

My favourite song? None of the usual suspects. For me it has to be The Right Moment. Beautiful song.
