The seventh house on vinyl

General Discussion of IQ and music in general

  • Newsletter wrote:Well, we've talked about it for a while, and we've had many requests, so we're finally releasing The Seventh House on vinyl. We're currently thinking double 'gold' vinyl in a gatefold sleeve with new artwork by Tony Lythgo – its going to look great, and hopefully we'll be in time for next year's Record Store Day in April.

We're also thinking 45 RPM discs rather than 33 RPM – we know that some people prefer one over the other so it would be good to hear your thoughts on this at the new GEP Facebook page. Speaking of which…

    Looking forward to buying this!

  • I agree re Seventh House, though would have preferred orangey red vinyl. 45rpm as well please. Can we have a virgin black vinyl edition 1/2 speed mattered and cut using the most antique machine available anywhere in the world. Heavy duty card sleeve with pictures taken with a vintage East German 38mm camera.
Seriously though really looking forward to the release.
Re record store day as long as Reflex Newcastle on Tyne, Sound It Out Stockton, Badlands Cheltenham or the shops in Nottingham get copies I'll be pleased.
    Green vinyl edition of Wake
    Grey vinyl edition of Frequency.
All the best to all involved.

  • I'm not on Facebook, so i hope that if The Seventh House is released on vinyl (in 2017?)
the fans will be informed via the IQ newsletter.

I would not want to miss this one (especially the gold vinyl, always nice to see coloured
or marbled etc. vinyl, and the 45rpm cut).

But is IQ involved in this release?

Can't find any info on this.

I would expect GEP to do this release, hence my question.

It will be Mike Holmes at the helm, don't fret. Nothing short of perfection will be accepted ;-)

Any news will be on the IQHQ website too but there will also be a newsletter. You won't miss out.

  • Thanks for the info Deno :-)
Can't wait for another IQ goody,
to look at and listen to too ;-)
These days i tend to buy more
vinyl than cd's, so if the package
is nice and colourful it can only
    complement the experience :-)
And the IQ releases on both vinyl
and cd or dvd are always done with
attention to detail, so i won't expect
anything less than perfect from Mike,
    and those involved :-)

  • Anne was true to her word at the merch stand on Saturday at the Robin.
TSH on vinyl is now available for pre-order on the GEP site.

    Order placed.

  • To all at team IQ . Cheers for the fanstastic LP that Steve, our local postie, left carefully at our door t'other day while out at work earning spondoolics for this and other purchases. It remains sealed and thankfully survived blemish free.
Well done all including Anne for a superb package.
Roll on next both new release and rerelease on vinyl.

  • Hi everybody,
I have received the vinyl at last. I was eager to listen to the four sides. Unfortunately I have found several problems.
First of all, it is not a 45 rpm vinyl thoug the label says the opposite.
Secondly, Vinyls are too noising, maybe the pressing is not as good as should.
Pretty vinyls but sound is not audiophile at all.
Ever vinyl were too much better, really 45 rpm vinyl (thoug you cannot find this info elsewhere) and sounding great.
